  • On October 30, 2006 the Institute of Economy RAS and the National Investment Council held a round table on the subject "Intervention, Which Shouldn't Have Taken Place. Budapest, 1956".
The round table was dedicated to presentation of a book "Disappointed Expectations. Moscow, Washington, Budapest and Budapest revolt of 1956". Author – Charles Gati, Professor of School for Contemporary International Studies named after Paul Nitse for the John Hopkins University.

The book was published in Russian in the editorial house of Moscow School of Political Studies.

In the discussion at the round table the issues of Hungarian revolution of 1956, its importance for Soviet-Hungarian relations and long-term consequences for USSR-USA relations were touched upon.
