The collection of research papers titled "Asia-2006: Economy and Politics" is the 12th issue prepared by the Centre of Asian Studies (now Sector of Eastern and South-Eastern Asia) with its traditional insight into major events occurred in the East Asian region in the past year (analysis of economic situation, domestic and foreign policy of the states, regional integration development etc. included). The papers pay special attention to the strengthening role and participation of Russia in bilateral and multilateral relations with East Asian countries. The authors make an attempt to objectively present changes under way and give their vision of East Asia’s evolution in the future. Foreign post-graduates from China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Mongolia and Korea have been traditionally represented in almost all publications.
