The MSE MSU was established on April 29, 2004.
Distinguishing feature of a new educational institution is compliance of its educational forms and methods with best world educational standards. The principal objective of the school is to promote higher quality of professional education in Russia.
The MSE MSU's chief target is to carry out training of qualified Masters of Economics, possessing good command of the Russian economy, ability to examine basic sections and current trends of economic science, and capable to work efficiently in federal and regional managing bodies, big corporations, science and higher education, under conditions of tough global competition.
The school has started its activities having admitted the first group of students (about 25 students) to studies within the framework of the MA program, speciality 521611 "Economic theory and problems of contemporary Russia".
For teaching in the MSE MSU are invited leading scientists from the RAS, distinguished foreign scientists, representing elite European and North-American higher educational institutions. Among them are academicians of the RAS A.G. Granberg, V.V. Ivanter, V.I. Mayevsky, V.L. Makarov, A.D. Nekipelov, V.M. Polterovich, corresponding members of the RAS G.B. Kleiner, N.M. Rimashevskaya, Drs. (Econ.) S.A. Ayvazyan, M.Yu. Afanasyev, S.P. Glinkina, R.S. Grinberg, M. Yu. Ksenophontov, R.M. Nureyev, D.S. Shmerling, M.N. Uzyakov, A.Yu. Shevyakov, etc. So far, the invitation for reading courses of lectures has been accepted by such distinguished foreign experts as Profs. James K. Galbraith and Michael Intriligator (the USA), Jacques Sapire (France), Grzegorz Kolodko (Poland) and Pekka Sutela (Finland).
MSE MSU students will have access to in-depth study of such subjects, as banks and credit, economic security, risk management and insurance, politology and civil law, history and sociology. The School's students will also have an opportunity to carry out research activity at the leading institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specializing in the field of Economics.
